Spanish football and La Liga giants Barcelona have confirmed the signing of 30-year old Ghanaian attacker, Kevin Prince Boateng from Italian club Sassuolo on a season-long loan deal till the end of the season with the option to buy the attacker at the end of the season in a loan transfer deal in the region of €8million.
Barcelona released an official statement this morning on their official club website saying:
“Kevin-Prince Boateng is a player who will surely adapt quickly to the team. With the experience of playing in four of the biggest leagues in Europe, the Premier League, the Bundesliga, Serie A, and La Liga, he is a man who has scored goals wherever he has been.
“Furthermore, Kevin-Prince Boateng is a player who versatile to a fault. During his time with Las Palmas with Quique Setién as the coach, he played as an out and out striker, a typical number ‘9’. However, he is also able to play further back as he did at AC Milan, scoring twice against Barça in his time with the Rossoneri.
“His ability to bring people into the game means he is excellent at playing behind the main striker.
However, the signing of Kevin Prince Boateng does not go well with many Barcelona fans around the world and they have made their displeasure and disappointment known on social media.
Some fans reaction on Twitter:
One fan even compared the arrival of Kevin Prince Boateng from Sassuolo with the dire need to replace the departed Andres Iniesta.
We do hope that Kevin Prince Boateng will live/play up to the expectations of the Barcelona board that made then shell out €8million for his signature.
