We saw the last set of group matches in the 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League played across Europe last week and 16 teams secure their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
The draws for the knockout stages of the Champions League was made today and we will be seeing quite some interesting matches in February and March 2019 when the UEFA Champions League knockout phase begins.
So here we go:
Schalke 04 vs Manchester City
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City gets a relatively easy fixture in their Ukrainian opponent, Schalke 04. Let us hope Manchester City does not blow their chances.
Atletico Madrid vs Juventus
This is surely going to be an exciting encounter. Spanish side Atletico Madrid are a tough nut to crack while Italian heavyweights, Juventus are still not cutting edge enough even with the recent acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo. We eagerly await the outcome of that encounter as we will see what magic Cristiano Ronaldo can or will perform against a Spanish side that he knows all to well from his time time at Real Madrid.
Manchester United vs PSG
This is going to be an exciting and extremely tricky game. On paper, it may seem like the end of the road for Manchester United considering the poor run of form they are currently having while French champions PSG on the other hand are enjoying a fantastic run of form. But with a manager like Jose Mourinho at the helm of affairs at Old Trafford, we can trust him to at least bring some parity into the game.
Tottenham vs Borussia Dortmund
Tottenham gets Dortmund. Both Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund play a similar free-flowing, fast-paced, attacking kind of football so it will be an interesting and exciting encounter between the two teams.
Lyon vs Barcelona
Barcelona gets an easy one……..again.
AS Roma vs FC Porto
This looks like a very balanced game.
Ajax vs Real Madrid
Real Madrid is on an almost impossible mission to win the UEFA Champions League four times in a row. A record that will almost certainly be unbreakable – at least not in the nearest foreseeable future. Ajax on the other hand are no just minors this time around. The Deutsche club is enjoying impressive form in the 2018/2019 Champions League. Ajax will hope to spoil the fun for Real Madrid and cut their hopes of winning a record fourth straight Champions League trophy short. Exciting game to watch out for.
Liverpool vs Bayern Munich
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will once again lock horns with a familiar foe from Germany when his Liverpool side face German champions Bayern Munich.
Which game is most exciting to you? Which game(s) are you most looking forward to?
