2018 has been a terrific year for movies. Here is a guide for the best movies released so far and the ones yet come for the rest of the year. Let us begin with something light.
Coco was directed by Lee Unkrich from Toy story 3 and a produced by Pixar. The movie is about a boy who got stuck in the world of the dead. The movie showcases the Mexican culture and a festival of life. Coco is a movie that tells a story of love, music, endurance and destiny.
2. The Shape of Water
The Shape of water is an Oscar-winning movie, produced by 20th Century Fox. The Shape of Water is about a relationship in a secret facility between a mute work played by Sally Hawkins and an amphibian humanoid being experimented by the US government played by Doug Jones. The Shape of Water was directed by Guillermo del Toro.
3. A Wrinkle in Time
Wrinkle in Time is about Meg Murry who began a journey to save her father who is a scientist who discovered something remarkable. Based on a 1960’s science-fantasy novel by Madeleine`L’Engle directed by Ava DuVernay. Meg Murry played by Storm Reid is helped by Mindy Kaling, Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon while trying to survive the darkness that is invading the universe.
4. Black Panther
Black Panther is the first Marvel’s black superhero. Black Panther made his first appearance in Captain America: Civil War. Black Panther(T’Challa) played by Chadwick Boseman. Black Panther is not just a superhero but the king of Wakanda, a place that is technologically advanced than anywhere in the world because of vibranium.
5. Tomb Raider
Lara Croft played by Alicia Vikander, goes on a journey on the Island of Yamatai to locate her missing father. The movie is very similar to the story of the 2013 game Tomb Raider. Lara Croft discovers her father is trying to keep the magic of Queen Himiko( an ancient Japanese Queen) away from the bad people.
6. Deadpool 2
This is definitely a movie worth your time, filled with R-rated humour. Deadpool played by Ryan Reynolds, set out to form a team of mutants called the X-force charge with the aim of protecting a young mutant from Cable, who has a telekinetic power and a gun that can do all sought of things.
Rampage is a Sci-fi movie starring Dwayne Johnson as Davis Okoye, the movie is based on a video game that has the same name. Okoye is a monkey handler that shares a particular bond with an albino gorilla named George. George gets affected by a genetic experiment making George and 2 other animals grow huge.
8. Avengers: Infinity Wars
Just be prepared to see some of your loved superheroes die, this is the first part of the infinity wars. It involves almost all Marvel’s superheroes teaming up to fight Thanos who is trying to get his hands on all the infinity stones so that he can re-write history.
9. Ocean’s 8
If you have watched the previous Ocean franchises you will know what you are in for. The Ocean’s 8 is about Debbie Ocean who was inspired by her brother Danny Ocean. Debbie after being released from prison decides to plan a robbery at New York’s Met Gala with a team she formed which includes Rihana who played as a hacker named Nine Ball.
10. Mission Impossible: Fallout
Tom Cruise plays as Ethan Hunt once again for the sixth instalment of Mission Impossible. Ethan must race against time again to save the world from an apocalyptic threat.
11. The Incredibles 2
The movie shows us the multi powers of baby Jack-Jack as Helen leaves Bob and the kids to face the new uprise of villains, putting superheroes in the spotlight once again.
