With the 3-1 win on  Sunday over Crystal Palace, the Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri set a new record for the longest unbeaten run by a  new Premier League manager in his first season.  Maurizio Sarri, when asked, said, Eden Hazard will not be starting any of Chelsea’s matches but if necessary will only play the Belgian.

Eden Hazard who sustained an injury last month in a match with Manchester United which ended in a 2-2 draw returned to training this week. Dues to the back injury, Eden Hazard has missed three of Chelsea’s fixtures only to be on the bench on Sunday’s game with Crystal Palace.

The Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri when asked by Sky Sport had this to say “I spoke with the doctor yesterday and he said he is doing better but he’s not ready to play for 90 minutes.

So we decided altogether for the bench. I think it’s very important for us to have him on the bench for the last 30-35 minutes, if necessary.”

When Maurizio Sarri was asked if he would only play if necessary, Maurizio Sarri replied: “At the moment, yes”.

Sarri said: “At that moment we needed Hazard, after the goal at 1-1 we were in a little bit of trouble so we needed accelerations, assistance, and Hazard got the assist in a minute. As I said before it was very important to have him on the bench

When asked about the record he set, he replied I am a little bit surprised but the record is not of the coach, it’s of the team.

I am lucky, I have very good players, very technical players, so we were able to win in this period without a great organisation from a tactical point of view.

Alvaro Morata who scored two goals in the win over Crystal Palace was urged by Maurizio Sarri to keep on improving himself as he helped Chelsea’s victory on Sunday. Though he missed a chance which was produced by Eden Hazard and that could have made it his hat-trick of the game. Alvaro Morata scored four goals in four EPL appearances.

Maurizio Sarri told BBC: “I am really very happy for Alvaro. He improved in the last month in confidence and personality. He improved also from a tactical and technical point of view. He plays with more continuity from the team

He has great potential physically and technically. He can improve more. Potentially he can be (a top striker at a top club). Sometimes he is a little bit fragile.

Chelsea is currently in second place on the league table after 11league matches without a loss. Chelsea is on the point level with their rivals Liverpool but is ahead with on goal difference.
